Save the date! On Sunday 10 May at 2pm to 5pm I will host the 1st of a series of Yoga philosophy workshops at Yogaflow studio in Ajuda. The theme is Origins & Definitions. It’s open to anyone curious to explore the fascinating history of this modern pop culture. Although the workshops are designed for Yoga practitioners and teachers to deepen their knowledge, no previous Yoga experience is needed. On completion of each workshop you will receive a Yoga Alliance accredited certificate.
If you are already a Yoga teacher registered with Yoga Alliance you can count these workshops towards your continuing education hours. Here is a little more info about the 1st workshop of the Yoga philosophy series. We will explore the Origins & Definitions of Yoga. There are many Yoga lineages and many definitions of Yoga. We will find what these diverse Yoga paths have in common, and experiment to feel some of the concepts directly in our own experience.
Since many modern Yoga schools are founded on the Krishnamacharya lineage, we will look more closely into the aspects of this tradition. Along our journey we will focus our attention on the Nath Yogis and the initial records of Hatha Yoga in the middle ages (around 1000AD), which includes some forms of body and breath practices we know today.
We will also look deeply into the evolving nature of Yoga over the years, from ancient Vedic culture (around 3000BC) with a focus on devotion and meditation, to modern times with a focus on wellbeing and fitness.
